This week at The Old Cinema we have a trio of pieces from Emma Byer’s new collection.

Born out of a love of vintage furniture and bright colours Emma set up her own upcycling business in spring of 2012. Over the years, Emma has photographed many ageing interiors and patinated surfaces, and now brings these looks and interests together by resurfacing furniture with metal.

Emma uses warm toned metals such as brass, copper and bronze which is coated and dripped on to furniture using a specialist technique and then aged to produce beautiful, natural patinas. This form of abstract expression Creates bold colour block pieces which look great in modern monochrome interiors.

Emma says, "I love the rich, natural colours and patterns created by ageing metal. The subtle lustre and texture of the metal surface looks magical in different lighting".

It's currently snowing on this less than springlike day in London but there are no April showers to be found in The Old Cinema. . The shop is full of the joys of spring!

We've a flamboyance of flamingos taking shelter from the weather on the middle floor as well as a couple of deer tucked away in one of our cabinets.

The bank holiday weekend has sadly passed so work off all those chocolate eggs and roast dinners by coming down to The Old Cinema to take a look at all of our lovely bright bits and bobs to brighten your homes! If it's not spring outside then at least it can be inside.

We've got some great glassware that'll be sure to brighten up all the BBQs you'll be having as soon as the weather sorts itself out as well as artwork, textiles, furniture and lighting!
